How to check the food information

Examine the menu and identify claims about any ingredients, dishes or beverages. Look out for descriptions of ingredients e.g. references to size, weight, composition, quality, species, origin. For example:

  • Wholetail scampi
  • 2oz Aberdeen Angus steak
  • Pepsi Max
  • Organic, fresh, wild, free range, locally sourced, homemade
  • Any references to ‘free from’ claims or nutrition and health claims
  • 80% pork content

Then check the ingredients that are being used in the kitchen. Look at packaging, delivery notes / invoices, recipes and the food itself.
